As a Sr. Web Systems Engineer, you will:
  • Provide assistance with design and implementation of systems to support development and quality assurance efforts under the guidance of a system architect.
  • Develop strong relationships with business and technical leaders as the primary engineer of a product team.
  • Document operational processes and infrastructure parameters.
  • Serve in a quarterly on-call rotation.
  • Work closely in a team with other systems and database engineers, as well as application development and quality assurance teams to ensure clarity of work scope, roles, and timelines.
  • Assist in resolution of problems and completing root cause analyses and defining permanent resolutions.
  • Assist in automation of server provisioning, configuration, patching, and monitoring.
  • Assist in the continual improvement of the performance, stability, and deployment processes of Xactware applications in production environments across a global infrastructure.
  • Support enterprise security with auditing and compliance.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers in industry best practices and latest trends.


Job requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience as a Systems Engineer supporting a heavily used, highly available, 24x7 enterprise platform.
  • 2+ years of work experience managing servers in a cloud environment such as AWS.
  • Demonstrated experience managing servers using AWS cloud formation scripts written in JSON, or YAML
  • Firm understanding of server hardware, SAN, and networking technologies, as well as common protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and SSL.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Server technologies and/or Linux OS.
  • Expertise monitoring application performance and server health with tools such as New Relic, Nagios, and Splunk.
  • Experience server management and automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, Spacewalk, WSUS, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, mentoring, and problem-solving skills with a team player mindset.
  • Experience with problem and incident management processes.
