Vice President, Strategy

 

Responsibilities
  • Develop long-term, forward-thinking business strategies designed to keep us several steps ahead of our competitors and to open new opportunities for us to expand our revenue both organically and inorganically. Pursue the implementation of these strategies within AIR, as well as with our Verisk company affiliates and external business partners and collaborators
  • Look ahead to future technological developments and changes in the marketplace and make sure we are well positioned to take advantage of both; identify new markets and sources of potential growth; recommend new approaches to maintain our competitive edge
  • Recommend changes in our existing approaches, product design, and product mix to maximize our market potential
  • Manage an M&A pipeline for AIR
  • Act with a high degree of performance and professionalism; determine and meet budget and operational objectives; drive productivity; and maintain employee morale in conjunction with the AIR senior management team
  • Establish and manage partnerships with key data providers, resellers, model providers and academia
  • Serve on a strategy committee organized by our sister companies
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in an annual Performance Plan
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation

 

Qualifications
  • 10+ years in areas related to our work for the insurance industry or in the investor and financial arenas, preferably with some knowledge of insurance, software, product management, business development, and research; 8+ years of direct management of people and multi-disciplinary teams; 8+ years of directing the activities of a business unit, with insight into profit-and-loss issues; a track record of increasing responsibility and success; extensive contact with clients.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively present in front of technical and executive audiences
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams often without direct authority
  • Analytical background
  • Ability and desire to travel
  • Desire to lead, mentor, and develop teams
  • Proactive, action oriented

 

Education
  • Advanced degree, preferably in management or an analytical or technical discipline relevant to our products and markets
