Reports to: VP Marketing, Americas

Role Purpose 

The strategic account manager will plan and deliver all aspects of the marketing program for Wood Mackenzie's top tier and segmented accounts to create demand, drive retention and customer loyalty.


Main Responsibilities


Develop marketing strategy, planning and execution for regional priority accounts

o   Work with regional account teams to develop the marketing strategy for the regional priority accounts

o   Plan and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns liaising with Corporate Marketing, regional Account Managers and key stake holders such as research, consultant and PR teams

o   Manage marketing communications working closely with PR for increasing brand awareness

o   Track effectiveness of campaigns and managing feedback channels, using information to make recommendations to improve the strategy


Commercial targets & measurements

o   Account knowledge, and targets to grow volume named decision makers
  • Building product usage (user volume and usage frequency)

-                  Increasing engagement (depth of usage)
  • Account based marketing Cross sell and upsell lead generation

o   Work closely with client management, record and report on leads & revenue generated by retention, cross sell and upsell
  • Renewal success
  • Support revenue targets for the accounts


Management of marketing budget, including:

o   Evaluate and report back on events/campaigns, and build lessons learned into future activity

o   Campaign reconciliation and reporting (ensuring costs are in line with budget)


Sales support

o   Build positive, supportive cross-functional relationship with sales & account team

o   Work closely with the Sales team to provide marketing tools and campaigns

o   Tailor campaigns and events appropriately for the markets and clients

o   Follow up on opportunities with sales team

o   Work on Account Based Marketing plans and activity


Market intelligence

o   Work closely and constantly with sales team to find out market and clients needs to reflect to marketing activities

o   Manage external suppliers if necessary for market research and analysis


Knowledge & Experience Required

Significant experience of working within a marketing role, relative management experience is preferable.

Strong motivation and interpersonal skills    

Results oriented

Strategic thinker and executer

Ability to influence others and to be responsible for making decisions

Bachelors degree in related field

At least 5 years of experience required
