The ISO Commercial Lines division of Verisk Analytics is seeking a demonstrated problem-solver with superb attention to detail and good communication skills to partner with Commercial Lines function with financial planning and analysis. 

This position is based in our Jersey City, NJ office, conveniently located across the street from the Newport path station.  Just one stop from Christopher Street, we’re an easy 10-minute commute from lower Manhattan (and about 20 minutes from Brooklyn).

The day to day expectations of this role are:
  • Gather, prepare and present Revenue and Expense variance analysis to CL leadership and product line VPs
  • Lead business day 3 and 5 reporting for Corporate: Actual vs. Budget, Actual vs. Forecast, Actual vs. Prior Year and current quarter vs. prior quarter monthly trend analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting and planning process for Commercial Lines and International, working with BU executives to determine the growth prospects for each revenue account
  • Serve as financial point person and financial thought leader for business leaders
  • Ensure accurate accruals in the general ledger of all revenue, OPEX and CAPEX items
  • Strong strategic, technical, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills with a prominent level of demonstrated quantitative and finance skills
  • Review contracts for revenue recognition
  • Reconcile commissions and review comp. plans
  • Develop and implement best practices and work with leadership teams to streamline operational efficiencies
  • Build strong, collaborative working relationships with business unit leadership, sales divisions, and corporate functions. Serve as an embedded member of the BU, work through challenges and difficult issues
  • Collaborate with internal finance partners for revenue/expense share items
  • Maintain and execute SOX Compliance
  • Vendor management - billing, utilization, tracking, and usage
  • Assist senior leadership & strategy team(s) with ad hoc reporting/modeling
  • Prepare for internal and external audits with Deloitte
  • Identify and implement efficiencies to analysis and reporting process

  • 7-12 years’ experience working in corporate Finance, FP&A, or accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with preferred major in Finance, Accounting or Economics; MBA a plus
  • Experience leading a budget and forecast process
  • Experience preparing and presenting monthly analysis to senior management
  • Experience writing variance analysis
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Superb organizational skills
  • The successful candidate will work well under pressure
