Software Engineer 

Software Engineer / Web Developer

Service Software, part of the Verisk/Xactware family, is the leading software provider of restoration job management, home builder service/warranty management, industrial inspection, and work order management software. We are seeking a professional, dynamic and proactive Software Engineer/Web Developer to join our team.

Role and Responsibilities

The Software Engineer/Web Developer will work with the Software Development Lead and participate in the software development lifecycle to develop code for a web-based SaaS application with a team of developers, analyze and design code from business and technical requirements, document work, and communicate effectively with business analysts and quality assurance analysts. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, and be responsible for the quality and timeliness of their own work.

Main Duties:
  • Participates in Scrum Activities on a scrum team.
  • Reviews requirements (User Stories) and implements code .
  • Troubleshoot issues/problems and communicates them effectively to the team. (Bug Tracking)
  • Work with support/internal users/customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Document testing results and issues as required.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.

Education : Bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, or similar degree, with a minimum of three(3) years of software industry experience.

Knowledge : Software Development Lifecycle. Agile methodologies. Web development. Database knowledge and SQL syntax.

Experience : Minimum of three (3) year of web development and SQL query experience.

The candidate should have skills and experience in all these areas necessary to perform their work duties. We use the latest versions of the products and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), decision making, and organization skills.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and questions on function and usage of products and services.
  • Strong analysis, design, problem solving and process management skills required.
  • In-depth understanding of software development/engineering methodology in development, production and testing environments and associated documentation required.
  • Understanding of multi-tier client/server environments, graphical user interfaces (GUI), and object oriented analysis/design and tools required.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure including middleware, network, and server
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong UX/UI skills
  • Visual Studio (editing, building, debugging, publishing)
  • C#, .NET Framework, HTML/CSS
  • ASP.NET Web Forms (controls, page life-cycle, events)
  • SQL Server
  • JavaScript, JQuery

Additional Skills :

The candidate should have skills in one or more of these areas, with strong desire to gain exposure in additional competencies. Experience in any of these areas is a plus.
