Position Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineer with C# and WPF expertise to join AIR’s growing Software Development team. Our expert software engineer team provides our clients with sophisticated modeling and analytical products to analyze the impact of catastrophic events like hurricanes, earthquakes and terrorist attacks and estimates the replacement value of residential and commercial properties.

You will utilize your deep understanding of smart-client design and familiarity with different design technologies, paradigms and application frameworks to further our goal of developing best in class data rich enterprise catastrophe modeling software and enhance your development skills in an organization considered the scientific leader in this industry.

  • Research and evaluate new technologies and programming APIs for inclusion into future versions of the product;
  • Design and develop frameworks and APIs for new functionality;
  • Some experience with Web Application development
  • You will implement the presentation layer with WPF and  Infragistics, .Net Advantage suite, as well as the business service layer with Microsoft C#, .Net Framework
  • Work with SQL Server T-SQL/ADO.NET/ORM (Entity Framework preferred);
  • Enhance the performance and quality of the application;
  • You’ll be part of a team that collaborates cross-functionally with developers across tiers
  • Mentor junior developers;


Required: Must have the following expertise:
  • 10+ years of commercial-grade software development;
  • 5+ years of C#/.NET development;
  • Extensive experience in object-oriented design and programming;
  • Experience writing frameworks in .NET;
  • Fluency in WCF, WPF, Visual Studio;
  • Strong knowledge of service-oriented and distributed n-tier architectural patterns and styles;
  • Strong knowledge of latest technologies and trends;

Optional: Experience with the following is a plus:
  • High Performance Computing (HPC);
  • Cloud technologies (Azure preferred);
  • Agile/Scrum methodologies;
  • Big Data;
  • Data Analytics;

Education and Training
  • B.S. in CS or Software Engineering, or equivalent; M.S. preferred;
