Our ISO team is hiring a Senior Energy & Insurance Risk Engineer

We are looking for a technical expert with an entrepreneurial attitude. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in the energy space with the skills to move the product agenda forward through partnership, collaboration across business areas, and focused communication. The ability to plan and drive several related but separate projects simultaneously is critical during this time of platform building. Our objective is to attract a strong leader who has deep energy insurance technical knowledge and has a business development drive to innovate within the energy insurance space.

The insurance and energy industries are worth trillions of dollars and more data-driven and analytics solutions are required in each to drive more precision in decision-making that support profitable growth, operational efficiency, risk management/compliance, supply chain risk, and big/fast data requirements in a very fast moving and quickly evolving business environment.

Available cutting-edge data sources that the Risk Engineer and extended team will work with include:
  • Wood Mackenzie’s unique energy sector deep & proprietary data;
  • Vast ISO Solutions actuarial, coverage, and data science assets;
  • Underwriting Solutions’ data;
  • AIR Worldwide catastrophe modeling capabilities;
  • Claims and PCS assets; and
  • Verisk Maplecroft global risk analytics, research, and strategic forecasting capabilities.


  • Engineering degree - preferably chemical/mechanical etc. (Equivalent experience/degree can be considered)
  • Recommended five to ten years loss prevention experience as a field engineer
  • Property insurance background, or combination of property insurance and industrial experience with an understanding and the ability to evaluate key risk factors and to postulate loss estimates.
  • An international background in energy/insurance is definitely a plus as the industry is global in nature.
  • Deep industry experience (Oil and gas, Power, Mining, Chemicals
  • NatCat (Earthquake, Wind, Flood) expertise is a plus
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with a very good knowledge of insurance industry trends and emerging issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills with internal and external personnel.
  • Excellent ability to work independently with proficiency
  • Business sense, team player, service mindset
  • Expected to travel sporadically

This position could be remote/ work from home, however Houston or Greater New York City based candidates are preferred.
