Verisk Insurance Solutions / Underwriting, a unit of Verisk Analytics (VRSK), provides technology rich solutions in Underwriting to the Property & Casualty insurance industry. These advanced analytical solutions address challenging problems related to risk and decision-making in P&C insurance underwriting. We are currently seeking to fill the position of Sr Analyst – Business Operations at Quality Planning (QPC), a business unit within Verisk Insurance Solutions. The analyst will play a major role at QPC supporting the Product, Development, and Account teams. The ideal candidate is highly inquisitive, detail oriented, and a systems thinker who will be able to learn our business logic and systems.

 

They will be responsible for various analytical, implementation, and support related duties and will learn and apply auto insurance fundamentals. The position will regularly perform ad-hoc analyses to research internal/external inquiries and to identify systemic issues or improvements and help guide strategic decisions using SQL and Excel. The analyst will also support the team by writing business/functional/technical requirements for system changes that will bridge gaps between our current processes and desired state.

 

Responsibilities:

 
  • Fully understand the QPC product suite from both a business and systems standpoint in order to identify and speak to any downstream/upstream impacts of changes requested
  • Implementing changes and improvements to our systems by writing detailed requirements and working with our Software & Database Engineers
  • Querying and analyzing large data sets and making recommendations or identifying issues based on findings
  • Producing reports and findings, on either a recurring or ad-hoc basis, to various internal teams and customers
  • Performing daily operational functions and identifying and reporting any bugs or issues with any operational processes

 

Qualifications:
  • Motivated self-starter with great initiative and work ethic
  • Highly inquisitive and an eagerness to learn
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field with at least 2-5 years of applied experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with SQL and relational database concepts, including extracting and analyzing data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill, able to communicate to both technical and non-technical peers
  • Previous experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Property/Casualty insurance experience a plus
  • Experience navigating SQL stored procedures or C# code a plus
  • Experience with JIRA and agile SDLC methodologies a plus

*Position would be based in either our San Francisco or Bryan, TX offices.  Other locations or work from home may be considered as an option.
