Position Summary

ISO, a unit of Verisk Insurance Solutions, is looking for an actuarial expert for Businessowners (Small Commercial) within the Commercial Lines Actuarial Products Department at ISO.



You will be expected to:
  • Lead the innovation and update of insurance programs in response to the changing business environment
  • Utilize your line of insurance expertise to analyze market, industry, competitor, legal and regulatory trends and use these to provide actionable insights that drive the business of both the company and its customers
  • Drive quality results and customer focus into everyday operations


More specifically, you will:
  • Lead projects that target on developing enhancements and innovations to actuarial products and procedures for Businessowners (Small Commercial) and other related Commercial LOBs.
  • Review and check loss cost reviews for Businessowners (Small Commercial) and handle regulatory questions from the state insurance departments on related reviews.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service through product presentations, quick and accurate responses to customer inquiries, and leading panel meetings or other customer forums.
  • Collaborate with other divisions in ISO, including but not limited to Product Strategy, Analytical Data Management and the Actuarial Operations team (a support team of actuarial talent).
  • Provide actuarial analyses in supporting, maintaining and updating existing BOP (Small Commercial) and related actuarial products.
  • Interact with regulatory authorities to present updates and innovations to ISO filing procedures, and support filings of reviews and related products, including, at times, representing ISO at meetings with state insurance departments and industry groups


  • Bachelor's degree and above in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, or related fields
  • Four + Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) Exams preferred
  • Three + years of experience in Commercial Property or General Liability insurance actuarial analysis (Property and Casualty) and progressive experience in product development desired.
  • Pricing in commercial property or general liability experience desired. 
  • Ability to both work independently and within a team
  • Deep knowledge of market, industry, customer, and competitor trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computing skills desired, such as SAS, SQL, Access and Excel, VBA, R --- some experience with project oriented programming such as JAVA would be a plus
