Role Purpose 

Wood Mackenzie seeks experienced professionals and graduates to take our research to a new level. This role will be tasked with providing our clients with in-depth commercial analysis of our current projects, and will have opportunities to present in front of the some of the largest oil and gas companies in the world. The Research Analyst will strive to become an expert in a region  that will be respected within Wood Mackenzie and by our clients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Research and collate information from both public sources and through meetings with key industry contacts, with the primary objective of obtaining information on companies' strategies, upstream assets, development plans and financial positions
  • Review, validate and analyze the data to create and update accurate and defensible financial valuation models for US onshore operators and their upstream assets
  • Develop thorough understanding of companies and the plays and regions in which they operate to support client and press queries and occasional consulting assignments
  • Leverage models and knowledge to author high-quality, in-depth reports relating to topical issues relevant to your companies and regions
  • Develop external network by maintaining relationships with research contacts and clients and participating in industry events
  • Contribute to the development and sales of upstream products 

Knowledge & Experience Required
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably upstream. 
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in related field such as business, finance, economics, or engineering.
  • Genuine interest and thorough understanding in oil and gas economics
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, with high attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and satisfy of the needs and expectations of our clients 
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the presentation skills necessary to present your findings to clients and colleagues
  • Dependable and responsible, with excellent organization and planning skills and the ability to manage your own workload
  • The ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others to make a real contribution with your ideas, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence
