We are looking for a Principal Database Engineer to accept challenging assignments that not only test one’s knowledge of SQL Server\RDBMS design and Implementation, but also allow you to expand your skill set. As an experienced Database Engineer, you will become a member of AIR's growing Software Development team. You will be developing commercial grade databases for web and desktop applications using SQL Server as the main database. We are creating new applications and re-architecting our existing desktop applications utilizing .NET. You should have a wide breadth of database development experience and skills as do the other top notch members of the development team. You will have the opportunity to be a key contributor to the growth of the company's product suite.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the technical design of next generation databases, which may span across multiple products. Use experience to help translate requirements into technical designs.
  • Contribute to next generation database schema design geared for performance using MS SQL Server
  • Contribute to next generation database schema design optimal for web and smart client applications
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Provide support for architectural designs to enhance complex subsystems like analytics engine.
  • Employ best database development practices to address performance, scalability and efficiency issues with large databases.
  • Design and develop reference databases in SQL Server 2008/2012, along with the ETL applications required to build them.
  • You must be able to develop and support OLAP, star schemas, cubes, and conduct data mining and analysis and provide technical assistance to data analysts and developers.


Qualifications:


You should have a strong working knowledge of SQL Server 2008/2012 or Oracle 10/11g with proficiency in performance tuning, troubleshooting and writing stored procedures in an applications centric environment.  You should also have a strong understanding of RDBMS concepts and the ability to multi-task. You should have demonstrated that you could come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem. Coding skills in T-SQL is a must.

In addition, some knowledge of application programming languages like C# would be a plus.  You will be working with very large databases so that the ability to comprehend complex problems and translate them into software designs is a must.


 Education and Training:

  • B.S. in CS or equivalent
  • 10+ Years’ experience as a database engineer
  • 10+ Years’ working in a commercial software industry
