Role Overview

As a key member of our Americas Downstream Consulting team, you will be responsible for managing commercial and strategic consultancy projects across the midstream and downstream oils sector.  The position requires the ability to apply knowledge and experience of the downstream industry to a broad range of consulting projects and client situations.

Main Responsibilities

Project Management
  • Assuming overall responsibility for the project successes
  • Defining course of action to accomplish project objectives and organizing resources
  • Planning own work ensuring and overseeing team progress to assure professional, on-time completion and delivery of projects
  • Providing functional guidance, fostering team member development
  • Reviewing and closing projects internally (project reviews, individual feedback, etc)
  • Identifying follow-up and resale opportunities
  • Improving operational process during the life cycle of consulting assignments  

  • Keeping abreast of developments across the downstream industry
  • Providing support and expertise to your team in structuring and solving problems
  • Guiding team discussions during project meetings
  • Preparing and overseeing preparation of presentations
  • Carrying out client and industry interviews

Business Development
  • Proactively maintaining a high-level of client interaction across the region
  • Developing strong relationships and repeatable, profitable consulting business
  • Promoting best practice in business development across the organisation
  • Scoping and writing pitches, ensuring quality and appropriate pricing

Thought Leadership
  • Building and maintaining an internal network to deliver the best possible outcome for both Wood Mackenzie and its clients
  • Generating innovative ideas and approaches to industry issues
  • Engaging with clients to demonstrate and debate industry issues and perspectives
  • Contributing to thought leadership-based marketing initiatives

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Minimum of Master's degree in related field such as finance or economics
  • Previous experience (6 – 10 years) as project manager in an energy focused consulting role or a strategic project management/advisor role within the downstream oil and gas industry
  • Spanish language skills, while not prerequisite, would be advantageous
  • Experience relating to Southern and Central Americas, and Mexico is also desired but not essential
