Managing Director, Consulting

About the Role

Reporting to the President of ISO, this leader will be someone who is already a recognized thought leader and currently serving clients in the P&C industry through large engagements that help insurers grow their top line, increase operational efficiency and better serve the end consumers of property and casualty insurance.

S(he) will be responsible for defining and executing a strategic plan to grow our existing actuarial consulting business into a leading provider of services to the P&C industry.  The Consulting Principal will partner with the leadership of ISO Sales, ISO Personal Lines and ISO Commercial lines to ensure our services business enhances our core products, while generating new opportunities for the Division through “paid R&D.”

About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role

Partner with ISO leadership to build and execute a growth plan for Services.  The Vision for ISO Services includes addressing our customers critical challenges by embedding/implementing our products as well as leveraging data and analytics to offer the following types of services:

-        Actuarial Consulting and Product Development

-        Implementation of ISO Programs

-        Market analysis and recommendations on growth and profitability

-        Portfolio analysis of customers book of business

-        Statistical reporting and state filing

-        Data management services

-        Advanced analytics and predictive modeling

-        Underwriting best practices and automation

Build a book of business by leveraging existing and new contacts in the P&C industry.

Actively participate as a member of the ISO Executive leadership team to help the Division define and achieve our growth and profitability targets.

Build strong, collaborative working relationships with business unit leadership, sales divisions, and corporate functions.

Recruit, hire and train a team of consulting professionals who are both industry experts and well versed in ISO programs, to build and successfully deliver the service lines listed above.  Ideally the candidate can bring a small team of consultants to ISO quickly so that we can accelerate revenue generation.

Lead and inspire a team to high performance, credibility and continuous improvement. Ensure staff members understand daily workflows, performance expectations, and milestones. Provide appropriate feedback, development, training, coaching, mentoring. 

Pull together a consulting team from internal resources such as our predictive analytics team and our actuarial operations team to work on consulting engagements.  These resources will be borrowed from the business and return to their respective teams/roles after delivering the consulting engagement. 

About You and How You Can Excel in This Role

You have an extensive track record of proposing, selling and delivering high value-added consulting services to P&C carriers, working with executive and senior management to address their most pressing business needs around P&C products, portfolio, actuarial and / or underwriting workflows.

You have a large and current network of P&C executives who frequently call on the Principal for advice and guidance on important business matters.

You are recognized expert in the industry, documented through extensive publications, appearances in conferences, lead speaking roles as well as active participation in the key P&C industry forums.

You have demonstrated a capability in building and growing profitable consulting services lines and practices.  Ability to balance the needs of serving clients while ensuring bottom line profits for the practice.

You are known for your strong leadership skills, demonstrated ability to manage large organizations and provide strategic vision along with tactical direction.

It is obvious that you have a deep commitment to the success of the practice, the team and the client.
