Position Summary:

Looking for a highly passionate Frontend developer to join our Verisk Underwriting team.  We build industry leading frontend applications both customer facing and internal – and always leveraging new technologies.  Our interfaces need updating and we want to expand our UI team.  Do you contribute to JS frameworks on Github?  Do you open Chrome developer toolbar when you see an interesting site and figure out how it works ? 

 

Mandatory Skills:
  • Javascript development
    • Expertise in manipulating DOM, Event handling, Callback, Closure.
    • ECMAscript versions and the differences between each
    • Preprocessing with Grunt/Gulp
    • NPM ecosystem
    • Module loaders: Webpack, CommonJS, ES6 etc
    • Production development experience with AngularJS, Angular or React with a customer facing application
  • Frontend UI
    • Strong knowledge of CSS3 concepts – must be able to write CSS from scratch
    • SASS/LESS precompiler knowledge
    • Hands on experience with Font icon libraries
    • Experience with Bootstrap and Material frameworks and how they work under the hood (not just how to use the framework)
    • HTTP protocol knowledge and ability to debug Ajax calls
    • Working knowledge of API endpoints and REST standards
  • Design UX
    • Ability to create mockups using Axure, Sketch or similar
    • Basic UX pattern knowledge and ability to defend you opinions

Nice to Have:
  • .NET C# coding experience – specifically .NET Web API 2 or MVC
  • AWS experience:  Cloudfront, s3, AWS Cli, Lamdba, .NET Core
  • GIS experience: Geoserver, Google Maps, Mapbox, OGR2OGR
  • Color Theory knowledge

  • Great communication
  • Passionate about building beautiful interfaces
  • Patient debugger – doesn’t mind working on a problem for days at a time
  • Organized and ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Can speak to your designs and defend the interface in front of non-tech business users
