Job Title: Head of Research Operations, Americas

Reports to: Head of Research, Americas

Location: Flexible on permanent location within Americas (Options include Houston, Annapolis, Calgary, New York, and Rio de Janeiro)

Role Purpose 

The role of Head of Research Operations, Americas is responsible for overall operations relating to the regional research business.  The role has a broad remit which includes administrative, financial, operational and strategic activities relating to the day to day running of the Americas research business.   

The role also acts in a ‘Chief of Staff’ capacity and assists the regional Head of Research and broader regional   Leadership team and is actively involved in setting the future direction and strategic priorities for the business.

The successful applicant will work as a full member of regional leadership team and will contribute (and often lead) a number of regional research initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

Regional Management & Project Management
  • Working closely with the Head of Research - Americas the applicant will run regular regional leadership meetings
  • Act in a coordination role to ensure effective communication between regional leaders
  • Working closely with the global Head of Research Operations to ensure strong communication and alignment with Research Leadership Team (RLG)
  • Work with Stakeholders across Woodmac to ensure effective timely delivery on key projects.

Financial Oversight of Research Business

Work closely with Finance Business Partner to:
  • Understand and be able to effectively manage and report on the Americas Research P&L
  • Coordinate development of the annual and reforecasts of the regional research budget
  • Develop, implement and track key performance indicators and communicate results and actions to regional Research team
  • Ensure that these KPIs are also shared with the global operations lead


Work closely with HR Business Partner to:
  • Work with the regional leadership team to agree key recruitment priorities for the region and track progress against these – specifically with respect to timing and budget. 
  • Work with the regional leadership team to agree key L&D priorities for the business and ensure that these are developed and adopted by the business

Oversight of Research Process, Systems and Reporting
  • Facilitate the introduction of new ways to working in the Research community.  For example the development and adoption of KPIs and enhanced time recording.
  • Compile regular reports and analysis on regional time writing .  
  • Ensure that Lean principles and philosophy are at the forefront of WM thinking and ways of working.
  • Monitor, produce and distribute as required all metrics used by teams to drive performance on a regular basis

Knowledge & Experience Required
  • Influencing and working with a diverse range of stakeholders from across the business
  • Ability to work and partner with key regional leaders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Minimum of bachelor's in related filed
