Job Title:             Head of Oils, Americas
Reports to:          Head of Americas Commodity Analytics

Location:             Houston

Role Purpose

The Head of Oils, Americas, will be a key part of the Americas commodity analytics leadership team and will be responsible for the efficient delivery of research and the development of the Americas Oils team. The successful candidate will maintain an open and dynamic team environment, delivering high quality research and client solutions.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Americas Commodity Analytics and will work as part of the Global Oils leadership team, partnering with the Global Content Leads and Product Suite Director to develop and implement a commercial and content strategy for the Oils sector globally and in the Americas.    

Main Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Work with the Head of Americas Commodity Analytics and other regional commodity heads to effectively transform the business,  ensuring the Americas Oils team is set up to identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Global Oils Content Leads, other Regional Oils Heads, and Product Suite Director to ensure global alignment on commercial and content strategy and activities within the Oils and Refining.
  • Ensure close co-operation and communication between research, consulting, client management, marketing and other teams.

Operations Management
  • Set clear priorities for Oils team while managing  the development, production and delivery of the team's regional research responsibilities.
  • Influence process efficiency improvements on internal workflows and ensure continued improvement of timeliness and quality of deliverables.
  • Establish partnership with Americas consulting leadership in the scoping and delivery of consulting projects such that clients' expectations are understood and met. 
  • Oversee the continued development and implementation of modelling and integrated scenario problem-solving.
  • Develop and manage team work plans to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Ensure that controllable costs are managed within budget.

People/Team Management
  • Lead and manage a team, setting a positive example on how to communicate both clearly and effectively.
  • Promote a positive and mutually supportive team culture. 
  • Ensure a collaborative environment where innovation and creativity are encouraged and conventional thinking is challenged.
  • Coach and develop staff to maximize strengths and identify developmental areas. 
  • Conduct ongoing formal and informal performance reviews. 

Analysis
  • Drive the evolution of Oils research taking new ideas from inception to delivery.
  • Consistently deliver timely and high quality analysis, prioritizing what matters to clients.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships with senior individuals in key companies, clients and institutions. 
  • Work with client management and consulting to generate new research, sales, and consulting opportunities. 
  • Monitor the external regional environment through regular client contact.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • A track record in inspiring teams.
  • The ability to influence, motivate and develop a team of industry professionals. 
  • Be able to effectively build relationships with colleagues and clients. 
  • An in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, gained from research, industry, or consulting.
  • The ability to question and influence the status quo.
  • Extensive experience in an energy related field.
