Role Summary:
The Principal Cloud Architect is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for setting technical and architectural initiatives.  Major focuses will be on participating in the design and implementation of the next phase Infrastructure consisting of cloud services, Next Generation Software Platform, and self-service technology consumption model, with complete transparency of performance metrics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Produce and own the corporate cloud architecture including developing a library of deployable design patterns
  • Define and enforce best practices for:
    • Cloud security
    • Cost containment
    • Cloud networking
    • Work with the team to design scalable integration patterns between our cloud environments and on-premises services.
    • Work closely and collaborate with software development leads to understand workload requirements and guide them to the best leverage of cloud services, optimizing for performance, cost and architectural flexibility.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies and tools and develop technical roadmaps
    • Demonstrate a balanced, vendor agnostic approach to addressing complex infrastructure concepts and gain consensus of peers through use of blueprints and trade-off analyses.
    • Participate with senior business leaders and subject matter authorities in defining strategies and courses of action that will impact the enterprise
    • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentor others
    • Work with operations team in troubleshooting escalated issues affecting critical systems

Skills & Requirements
  • Subject matter expertise in a wide range of infrastructure related domains, with a track record of large production grade service deployment and IT operations.
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how, when to utilize them.
  • Able to take business requirements and translate them into detailed infrastructure solution design.
  • In-depth architectural understanding of AWS/AZURE and are familiar with cloud native design patterns and DevOps principles (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and 7+ years of experience, at least 2 of which has been in a role using AWS/Azure.
  • Experience in cloud native architectures and micro-service design
  • Appropriate Cloud certification is strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
