Role Purpose

Our Consultants work within existing teams of experienced consulting professionals within the various consulting practices, who are responsible for delivering an expanding range of consulting services. This is a multi-department program and the selected individual may participate in projects within our Upstream, Downstream, Gas/Power, Mining/Minerals and Performance Improvement consulting groups at Wood Mackenzie.

The job holders will support the teams in delivering a wide range of consulting mandates. The position requires the ability to apply industry knowledge to a broad range of strategic consulting projects and client situations.  We are looking for entry-level  to semi-experienced applicants. Our consultants have outstanding credentials, first-class connections with key energy and mining industry decision-makers globally and an unrivalled knowledge of regional and local markets. We deliver advice that is based on real substance.

Main Responsibilities

Analysis
  • Supporting the consulting teams on input into a range of consulting projects, particularly through operation of sophisticated internal models and developing spreadsheets to create new analyses
  • Contributing towards the content and format of consulting presentations and reports
  • Extracting data from internal and external sources such as databases, websites and Wood Mackenzie products
  • Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and attention to detail to ensure the highest quality analysis is delivered
  • Willingness to take ownership for analysis undertaken, and ability to defend work to clients in a coherent, credible and authoritative manner

Communication
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills, both internally and externally
  • Establish good working relationships with colleagues across the Global Energy & Metals Divisions of Wood Mackenzie

Managing Tasks
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise own work-load to ensure project objectives and targets met

Teamwork
  • Proven effective cross team working skills, being able to work in an open and trusting way across the broader Consulting and Research teams throughout Wood Mackenzie
  • Adopt a flexible approach towards work

Consulting Practice Development
  • Work with colleagues in the broader Consulting and Research teams throughout Wood Mackenzie to understand what new offerings can be taken to clients
  • Provide input to development of consulting best practice, offerings and strategy

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • Other foreign language skills are a plus
  • Knowledge of the energy and/or metals industries gained from 1-2 years' experience in school, internships or work experience
  • Proven experience of working in a team environment is essential
  • Travel up to 50% could be expected, including Latin America
  • Financial experience is beneficial
  • Operational experience in one of the sectors we serve is beneficial but not required
  • Excellent excel skills and ability to manipulate large data sets
  • Minimum bachelors degree in a relevant field such as economics, mathematics, engineering and finance.
  • Prior Consulting experience a plus.
