Role Purpose 

The conference content lead is a prominent role within Wood Mackenzie’s growing Power & Renewables (P&R) practice, providing necessary connections between the analyst team and our events strategy, development and execution.  Combining the recent acquisitions of Greentech Media (GTM) and MAKE with Wood Mackenzie's power research provides a solid foundation to become the leading market analysis and advisory firm on the transformation of the global power industry. 

Main Responsibilities

The conference content lead will be responsible for developing the program content and themes for GTM events with input from the research, sales and marketing teams. Secondary responsibilities include coordinating speaker logistics, crafting marketing copy, and collaborating on sales and marketing materials. Key activities include:
  • Work with the Conference Chair and key industry stakeholders to develop a cohesive, engaging conference agenda
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams for promotional materials
  • Manage speaker relations for each event: Initial outreach and confirmation, on-going logistical communication, PPT collection and review, on-site management.
  • Coordinate with moderators for panellist outreach.
  • Answer questions via email or phone in a timely manner.
  • Proof on-site program, PowerPoints, signage, collateral and event tech for consistency and accuracy.
  • Ensure on-site A/V and setup needs for each session are met.
  • Manage on-site speaker logistics and program execution.
  • MC live event: provide welcome, housekeeping and closing remarks.

Knowledge & Experience Required
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Sales or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the energy industry, preferably renewable energy.
  • Experience with planning and executing conference programs/events would be ideal but there are many jobs which have transferable skills for this position.
  • Experience dealing with multiple processes, deadlines and details.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office Suite. Working knowledge of HTML, Photoshop and/or CVENT is a plus.
  • Ability to travel 20% (5-7 days of travel per conference)
